FAQ
We understand the importance of trusting your Interior Design team as you welcome us into your space. We want to make sure you feel at ease every step of the way, below are some frequently asked questions that may help you to understand our design process.
How do I begin a project with NSD Studio?
Simply contact our Design Studio to set up an initial consultation. We always encourage a video call with our Lead Designer Nick Snow to begin the process, this initial point of contact allows for both parties to get to know one another. During this meeting we will discuss your design requirements, preferences, habits, hobbies, functional needs, budget and the desired outcome for your space. All of this will guide us into your unique design journey, creating the space of your dreams. We encourage you to ask us any questions you may have, and get to know us in equal measure. There is no requirement at this stage to sign up with us.
What should I bring to the initial meeting?
Following on from your video call we will arrange a site visit, this is the best time to present us with any inspiration images you have collected, such as inspiration from magazines or Pinterest. This will help us further uncover your style and direction. We also suggest having some pictures of styles and schemes you do not like, so our designers know what to steer clear of during your interior design project.
Does NSD Studio have a minimum project size?

What areas do you serve?
Our Design Studio is based in Romsey, Hampshire however we have completed projects across the south coast and the rest of the UK. We also have projects in Europe. We welcome international enquires from any location, and will always do what we can to make the project work for you.
How long will the design process take? Is there a way to speed up the process?
Most interior design projects will take anywhere from 4 - 12 months, depending on the size and requirements. If you have a shorter timeline, we will do everything in our capability to complete your home as quickly as possible, however please do let us know at the beginning of the process if you would like custom furniture for example. Built-to-order items can take anywhere from 6 to 14 weeks to arrive. Scheduling frequent meetings with your Designer can also speed the process along.
How much will my Interior Design project cost?
While every project is different, we can advise you where your budget is best spent and work with you to stick to a ledger created in house; this is based on your projects scope of work. An interior design project can involve contractor fees, design management, FF&E, shipping costs and installation costs. Of course, not every project involves all these areas. Some things to consider when creating a budget include; how involved in the design process you want to be, how quickly you can make decisions and, if pursuing a remodel, how involved in project management you would like us to be.
How do I keep track of my budget?
We will create and maintain an Excel spreadsheet of your budget upon request. The budget will include furnishings separated by room and monthly design management fees. Our Finance manager will be on hand to guide you through the process and assure you that your budget is in safe hands. We will always keep you updated and inform you of any changes within the budget if they arise.
What is your mark-up?
We do not have a standard mark-up model. Instead, we make sure that our prices are never above the retail cost, that they are fair to you as our client, and that they fit your budget. Where possible, we pass on any trade discounts we can.
During the renovation process, what is expected of me?
If you opt for our design management service you can sit back, relax and let us handle this phase of your project. We will manage all orders of FF&E and make sure everything arrives on schedule, in the correct finish, size, and undamaged. We keep track of everything arriving on site, and deal with any issues as they arise. If your interior design project has a build component, we stay in constant contact with the contractors and frequently visit the job site to ensure work is progressing on schedule and that our designs are being constructed as intended. We share all of our paint, lighting, material, finish and plumbing schedules with the contractors so they know exactly what is going where. To make sure that our design intent is clearly communicated, we provide the contractors with detailed construction drawings such as cabinetry layouts, lighting plans, bathroom layouts and decorating specifications. If desired, we can assist you in reviewing contractor bids to ensure accuracy and fair pricing. Through this phase of the project we will check-in with you often to address any questions or concerns.
